i want to write a piano etude so halfway through i can put "col legno" and not explain or elaborate

i think one of the funniest things i can do is say shit like "a bass guitar only has four strings, how hard can it be?" to justify not looking up a single tutorial ever and when someone counters this with a classic "a violin also has only four strings and is hard as fuck" i can go "right you are, but i do already know how to play a violin and that's about as complicated as it gets, so how hard can it be?"

actually i'm curious so i'm gonna ask outright in case anyone knows:

i'm clueless about violins. tonight i went to a philharmonic concert. towards the end, during a long suspended note, a noticeable plume of white vapor started rising from the strings of a violin and towards the ceiling (apparently an uninentional incident. not a special effect or anything). what WAS that?

Ironically, he would really like string instruments. I'm not saying he could play those given the whole Claw Situation, but he would like the sound of them.

For playing... Probably the drums, tbh. He would enjoy how much he has to mentally and physically multitask with it. It's also pretty tiring.

finally getting back to playing violin and im having such a hard time tuning it. the tuning pegs keep sliding out of place. its always had this problem because its an old violin and i think it was broken at some point near the A string tuning peg, there's a couple cuts in the wood and i remember my Dad having to get it fixed when i first started playing it in 7th grade. its an old family heirloom. im really worried actually because im probably going to have to get a new violin at some point, preferably one that's more my level, and that shit is Expensive.

This is Jazzdragon 14 from 2010. It was done as an art trade, and the violin was the instrument request of my trade partner. JAZZ ORCHESTRA. Yer darn tootin' imma do a Jazz orchestra. When the Brick of Inspiration hits, I think the Jazzdragon orchestra will need to be a fairly large piece featuring something that evokes the Jazz era as much as stylistically possible.

...Tch; I really need to work on some Jazzdragon ensemble drawings to prepare for the large-scale artwork. I have sketches, but 11,482 other things have crowded into my limited scope of attention.

I made this with ink, watercolor, and Prismacolor pencils. I used a photo of Itzhak Pearlman to help me with the violin.
